Plinths
Plinths are used to elevate artworks or create a center of attraction or focal-point in a room or open space. For example: Placing a mannequin on a plinth draws the attention to the mannequin. Statues are also good candidates for being placed on a plinths, an example is "David" by Michelangelo). Very few statues are not placed on plinths, some plinths are even carved as part of the statue. Plinths are also used in exhibitions to improve the presentation of reading materials or animations. Very often large television screens are placed on the plinth or attached to a wall with documentation and brochures placed on a plinth in close proximity.
