Finger Puppets
Story Telling Ideas for Parents
Finger puppets are great for story telling. Small characters such as a king, queen, knight and dragon placed on the fingers make entertaining bed time stories. Children have strong imaginations so even a green finger cut-off from an old glove - and with teeth drawn using a black marker pen - makes a really scary dragon!

Make your own finger puppets
If you would like to be creative and make your own finger puppets, then this is a list of the equipment and materials you will need:
- Cheap wool gloves - see here for a list of wool gloves sorted by cheapest first.
- Cut the fingers off these gloves
- Things for sewing or glueing onto the fingers, ideas include:
- Peanut shells
- Buttons
- Diamante
- Shoe laces
- Marker pens for drawing on the fingers
It will be easier to draw on the glove when the glove is on your hand and still has its fingers, so
plan ahead and think about what you want to draw on the glove.
Once you have collected all the materials you can be creative and make your own finger puppets.
This is a great fun low-cost activity for teachers and parents.
