I designed the Boot Kidz as a collection of cartoon-like characters with concrete ‘wellie’ boots - combining metalwork, materials, and design into what I consider a unique designer furniture product.
Colour and texture play a large role in my designs. Bright primary colours are used for dyeing the boots and painting the frame; strong red for the boots, bright yellow for the hair, royal purple and grassy green for the frames. Finally, the unique texture of concrete gives each Boot Kid a modern, funky, look and feel.
I successfully completed the Furniture Design and Realisation HND (2 years), at London Metropolitan University in the Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design. I learned practical skills for designing and building furniture using a broad range of materials - studying the history, machine processes, CAD (Computer Aided Design), development and prototyping of ideas, materials manipulation, professional design, project planning and principles of design. It included contemporary manufacturing methods and those of the traditional designer-maker. At London Metropolitan I designed numerous furniture pieces (including table, chair, and sofa designs). I am slowly, but surely putting these ideas and prototypes into production and at the same time designing new and innovative ones.
I try to make my designs unique and eye-catching. Has this design caught your attention? Do you have any comments? Please send me an email, it would be great to hear your thoughts or just send me your email and I'll contact you with updates!
