About Oak as a wood for making products

Oak has a density of about 0.5 - 0.9 g/cm³ (compare to pine of density 0.3 - 0.5g/cm³), with great strength and hardness. It is very resistant to insect and fungal attack because of its high tannin content. It also has very attractive grain markings. Oak wood is still used to this day for furniture making.
