What are pac-a-macs?
Rollup pack-a-way macs and cagoules (from the French for hood) are useful lightweight, weatherproof, raincoats or anoraks with or without hoods.
Who invented the Pac-A-Mac?
Noel Bibby of Peter Storm Ltd invented the Cagoule, a lightweight waterproof cape, patented in 1963.
The word "mac" comes from the word "Macintosh" after Scottish inventor Charles Macintosh.
The Macintosh raincoat was first sold in 1824 and was made in rubber. Modern Macs are made in plastics. For more history see here.
